England finds '3-star facilities' ok, to move in
The English team, which had checked into hotels last week complaining of filthy conditions at the Games Village, has now started moving into the complex. A statement said support staff would be the first occupants "to ensure that conditions continue to be on track" for the athletes.

CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi says most athletes are happy with the Games Village and all problems have been sorted out. He also says the village, which he claims is 80% complete, is better than any other in the world.

With just a week to go for the Commonwealth Games, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit has told NDTV that the flats at the Athletes Village would be ready soon and that the situation was improving by the hour. She, however, refused to commit to a deadline.

South African High Commissioner Harris Mbulelo Mejeke, who created a sensation by claiming that a snake was found inside his country's residential block at the CWG Village, did a quick flip-flop a few hours later and said that facilities had improved and that he was impressed by the great work being put in to get the complex ready.

The first Australian athletes to arrive at the Delhi Commonwealth Games have enjoyed a smooth transition into the village and Chef de Mission Steve Moneghetti said his team had no complaints. The athletes were looking forward to competing in the spirit of the games, he said.

Gary Lunn, Canada's sports minister, has called up his Indian counterpart MS Gill and said his country is not worried at all by international media reports on CWG, Delhi. He said Canada too had seen such problems before the Vancouver Games and was confident they would be overcome.

Commonwealth Games Federation CEO Mike Hooper has been a busy man of late, giving many tv interviews. His latest was to Television New Zealand slamming preparations at the Games Village. In an interview to NDTV last week, he had lashed out at Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi.
